Bill Sullivan has been a prominent figure on the music tour circuit since the early 1980s. After his time with The Replacements and stints with the Del Fuegos and the Cherrybomz, Bill went on to become the tour manager for a host of renowned artists. His extensive touring experience includes working with Soul Asylum, Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst's Monsters of Folk, Yo La Tengo, Cat Power, The New Pornographers featuring Neko Case, Spoon, Syl Johnson, Teenie Hodges, and blues legend Jimmie Vaughan.
Bill's journey through the music industry has given him a wealth of experiences and stories, which he has compellingly translated into his writing. His memoir, "Lemon Jail: On the Road with the Replacements," offers an unfiltered and often humorous look into the chaotic world of touring with a rock band. His ability to capture the spirit of the times, coupled with his insider's perspective, has earned him acclaim from readers and critics alike.
In addition to his literary achievements, Bill has made significant contributions to the Minneapolis music scene. He was co-owner of the iconic 400 Bar on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota with his brother Tom, a venue that became a cornerstone for live music and cultural events.
Bill's latest endeavor, "Lemon Jail: Last Exit," expands his storytelling into new formats, continuing to explore the vibrant and often tumultuous world of rock 'n' roll. His work is a testament to the enduring power of music and the art of storytelling, offering a unique and engaging window into one of rock's most compelling periods.
